Bathroom Tile for Tub/Shower and Floor
The challenging part of this bathroom was cutting the dots in the border. The kerf of the wet saw blade is more than 15 percent of the width of the tile. They would easily disintegrate as they were made out of actual marble. The shelves were already in place. We removed the existing tile and actually scraped mastic off of a box and half worth. The height of the tub dictated the layout and the shelves were a casualty of that mistake. The previous "tile guy" had left a 3/4 inch piece of tile against the bathtub. After removing the old material and cleaning it up, the walls were flashed with thin-set in order to provide a smooth surface to complete the installation in a proper manner. The decision to cut the border out of 12 x 12 sheets of marble was arrived in cooperation between the Client and Watkins Tile And Stone.
